A Special Message From The Co-Founders
NOTE TO OUR SUPPORTERS
Atlanta, June 20th 2015 | Danai J. Gurira
As an evolving body, things adjust constantly to allow for the best manifestation of that mission. Below is a letter from Patience Tawengwa, co-founder of Almasi Collaborative Arts, describing a change we have commenced. She has decided to resign from her current position at Almasi Collaborative Arts and I would personally like to thank her for all the astounding work for the organization, how without it, we would never have made it this far. Her heart is purely for the betterment of the African Artist and she deeply believes in the potential of what artistic output can come out of this continent and our nation. Her transition into our Institutional Advisor where she will be advising myself and our new MD of the organization as opposed to working at the organization on a day to day basis will, we both feel, have a deeply needed and beneficial effect on our output. I would truly like to honor Patience for her amazing work, perseverance and sacrifice for the African artist and this organization. Without her, none of any of this would have been vaguely possible."
With much appreciation, Tinotenda.

HALLMARK OF GROWTH
Harare, June 16th 2015 | Patience G. Tawengwa
The hallmark of growth is change and Almasi is a rapidly growing institution. Through experiences on each project we are still finding the best and most efficient way to carry out our mission and mandate.
It is not an unusual practice for the roles of founding members to change as an organization grows. Normally these roles evolve according to how best the organization’s mission can be served by the strengths of each individual founding member. There are going to be some organizational changes happening in Almasi. You will be informed about these changes in greater detail by the Almasi President. And with these changes, I will have the opportunity to pursue some additional interests I have had on hold during these beginning years of Almasi’s mission.
I will now be working with Almasi in a new role as an Institutional Advisor and Consultant. One of my responsibilities will continue to be the smooth running and support for the Almasi artist exchanges. In my new role, I look forward to seeing the infusion of fresh talent within Almasi. I remain committed to contributing to the success of an organization I greatly care about.
