On 6 April 2024, 2.30pm Almasi Collaborative Arts presented a staged reading of How to Defend Yourself by Liliana Padilla at Reps Theatre. Marking Chelsy Maumbe’s staged reading directorial debut, the staged reading had the participation of new and experienced actors.
On 24 February 2024, 2:30pm Almasi Collaborative Arts presented a staged reading of Tape by Stephen Belber at Reps Theatre. Directed by Tadziyana David Bvumbe, the staged reading featured Ngonidzashe Chikowore, AneUnhu Gwatidzo, Chelsy Maumbe and Charmaine Mujeri.
From 12 to 23 December 2023, Almasi held the Almasi African Playwrights Conference at Reps Theatre, Harare. Facilitated by Stephen Belber, Gideon Wabvuta and Sasha Emerson, the conference had the participation of 5 Zimbabwean playwrights Kingsley Chinhanu, Tinotenda Mangwendeza, Leonard Matsa, Tatenda Mutyambizi and Almasi Associate Artistic Director Zaza Muchemwa.
From the 5th to the 17th of June, Almasi presented a TV Writing Intensive for 6 Zimbabwean screenwriters. Led by US Visiting TV Writer and Executive Producer, Matt Negrette, the TV Writing Intensive was presented at Reps Theatre. The workshop began with the six participants, each at different stages of their writing careers, coming together.
On 19 August 2023, 2.30pm Almasi Collaborative Arts presented a staged reading of Her Portmanteau by Mfoniso Udofia at the Pavilion, Zimbabwe German Society. Marking Munashe Goromonzi’s directorial debut, the staged reading had the participation of new and experienced actors.
On 22 April 2023, 2:30pm Almasi Collaborative Arts presented a staged reading of The Homecoming Queen by Ngozi Anyanwu at Zimbabwe German Society. Directed by Charmaine R. Mujeri the staged reading had a good mix of new and experienced actors.
On 25 February 2023, 230pm Almasi Collaborative Arts presented a staged reading of Nollywood Dreams at Zimbabwe German Society. Directed by Makomborero Theresa Muchemwa the staged reading had a good mix of new and experienced actors.
On the 19th of September 2019, 6pm Almasi Collaborative Arts presented a staged reading of Familiar by Danai Gurira at Old Mutual Theatre, Alliance Francaise. Directed by Walter Muparutsa Fellow Tafadzwa Bob Mutumbi the staged reading had the participation of experienced actors.
On the 22nd of November 2019, 6pm Almasi Collaborative Arts presented a staged reading of Schoolgirls; or, the African Mean Girls Play by Jocelyn Bioh at Old Mutual Theatre, Alliance Francaise. Directed by Sandra Chidawanyika- Goliath the staged reading had the participation of new and experienced actresses.
On the 24th of November 2018, 6pm at Reps Theatre Almasi presented Micro-the staged readings of 5 ten minute plays. The plays; Return by Zoë Guzy-Sprague, Gray Matter by Jeantette D. Far, Micro by Zodwa Nyoni, The Several Beheadings of Ashraf Fayadh and Corals by Ng Choon Ping varied in thematic questions which included; race and racism, identity, power and belonging.
